Who can use YAPi

You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of any athlete you add. Accounts are for families and for staff we have invited. Don't create an account for a child you are not responsible for.

What YAPi is, and what it isn't

The YAPi Score describes how an athlete performed on the day they were measured, compared to published norms for their age and gender. It is a snapshot, not a forecast.

It does not predict athletic success. It is not a scouting evaluation, a recruitment tool, or a medical assessment. Estimated adult height is a statistical estimate with a real margin of error, not a diagnosis. Nothing on YAPi should be used to make medical decisions, and nothing here substitutes for advice from a doctor, physiotherapist or qualified coach.

Young athletes develop at wildly different rates, and a score at ten says very little about who someone becomes at eighteen. Please hold these numbers lightly.

Accuracy of measurements

We measure carefully, but measurement has limits. Hand-timed results vary between people running the clock, surfaces differ between venues, and any athlete has better and worse days. Where two measurements are taken close together, the difference between them may be measurement error rather than real change, and we try to say so where it matters.

If you believe a measurement is wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

Events, payment and refunds

• •A place at an event is confirmed when payment is received, or when we waive the fee.
• •Prices are shown before you pay. Payment is handled by Stripe.
• •If we cancel or reschedule an event, you get a full refund or a place at the replacement date, whichever you prefer.
• •If you need to cancel, contact us before the event and we will do our best to refund or move you.
• •Events can be affected by weather or venue availability. We will tell you as early as we can.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Share links let anyone holding the link view an athlete's profile without signing in. That is the point of them, but it means you should only send one to someone you would be comfortable showing the whole profile to. You can revoke a link at any time.

Your data

You can download everything we hold and delete it whenever you like, from Your data. The privacy policy explains what we collect and how long it lasts.

The measurements belong to your family. We use them to run the service, and we do not sell them.

Behaviour at events

Assessment days involve children. We expect parents, athletes and spectators to behave accordingly. We may ask anyone acting aggressively toward staff, officials or other families to leave, and may decline future registrations, without a refund in serious cases.

Physical activity and risk

Assessments involve running, jumping and other physical exertion, and carry the ordinary risk of injury that comes with sport. By registering you confirm your athlete is well enough to take part. You will be asked to accept a waiver when registering for an event; that waiver governs the event itself.

If your athlete has a medical condition affecting their ability to participate safely, tell us before the event.

Ending things

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to misrepresent an athlete, to access other families' data, or to abuse staff. Where we do, we will say why.

Liability

We provide YAPi as it is. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or that every measurement will be free of error. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim arising from your use of YAPi is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms we will update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use YAPi after a change means accepting it.
